KARACHI:

The wedding ceremony of former federal minister Faisal Vawda's daughter, held on Sunday at his residence, marked a 25-day-long celebration of opulence and grandeur.

Vawda undertook significant community improvements during the festivities, funding road repairs, manhole coverings, street light installations, and the paving of footpaths in his area.

Over 1,000 private guards provided security during the ceremony, accompanied by aerial surveillance from private helicopters. Reports suggest the acquisition of plots for parking over 1,000 vehicles.

The event witnessed the presence of influential figures, including former president Asif Ali Zardari, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, and Aga Khan Foundation Chairman Sultan Alana. Chief ministers, governors, tribal chiefs, prominent local and foreign businessmen, as well as current government officials, were also among the guests.

The extravagant ceremony featured more than 30 meals at some events and over 40 meals at others. Private planes, carrying businessmen from abroad and within the country, landed in abundance at Karachi airport, with Vawda's main squad, including singers like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, using a private jet for guests’ transportation.

Amidst Vawda's robust political endeavours, a heartwarming moment emerged as he danced with his daughter during the hina ceremony, a viral video capturing the sentiment. Fireworks illuminated the sky, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

Political analysts observed a dual focus on the wedding celebrations and Vawda's political influence. Acknowledged as a political powerhouse, Vawda's ability to bring together even staunch political opponents during the marriage suggests his formidable stature. Political pundits recognise him as a one-man army, asserting that his political insights on TV shows are remarkably accurate.

Moreover, it is speculated that, following Imran Khan, Vawda holds significant influence within Khan's party, with his political acumen deemed crucial for national and provincial seats in upcoming elections.
