In an unexpected turn of events, Pakistani actor Mehwish Hayat had a chance encounter with renowned Indian singer and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, leaving fans eager to unravel the purpose behind this meetup. Both stars had nothing but praise for each other, fueling speculation about a potential collaboration or project in the works.
Taking to his Instagram handle, Honey Singh shared a selfie featuring himself alongside Mehwish, calling her “braveheart” in the caption, "With zinda dil." In response, the Ms Marvel actor reciprocated the gesture by sharing Honey's post on her Instagram Stories, accompanied by a sweet note expressing her delight at finally meeting him.
She wrote, "It was an absolute pleasure meeting you finally. You are an incredible powerhouse of talent and a true inspiration." Acknowledging Mehwish's warm sentiments, Honey replied, "Much love", followed by a red heart emoji, further igniting curiosity among their fans.
This unexpected rendezvous isn't the first interaction between the two. The prospect of collaboration was subtly teased in a 2022 Q&A session held by Mehwish on Insta when a fan inquired about a joint project with the Indian rapper. In response, she playfully deferred the question to Honey, tagging him with “Let’s ask the man himself! What do you think?” The musician promptly replied with a confident "Sure."
In 2019, Honey took to his Instagram feed to extend warm wishes to Mehwish on her birthday. The Kuley Kuley singer posted a picture of the Pakistani actor and described her as a "great singer and actor” in the post’s caption.
The Dillagi actor drew wide praise for her supporting character in the 2022 American television miniseries Ms Marvel where she joined hands with Indian actor Farhan Akhtar. Directed by Oscar-winning Pakistani director, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, Ms Marvel was a multi-country collaboration of cast and crew.
Essaying the role of Aisha, Ms Marvel’s great-grandmother, in heart-touching scenes on the partition, Mehwish discussed her experience in a long ‘thank you’ post to Chinoy. “Walking onto that set reduced me to tears every time - it so vividly brought home the horrors that our ancestors went through. I could walk away when the camera cut - but for countless millions, it was their reality," she wrote.
