Seven indicted in Naqeebullah murder case

Accused plead not guilty, court summons IO, witnesses on next hearing

KARACHI:

Special Anti-Terrorism Court indicted seven accused including former SHO Amanullah Marwat in Naqeebullah murder case. Special Court No. 16 heard the case in Anti-Terrorism Complex in Karachi Central Jail.

The jail authorities produced accused former SHOs Amanullah Marwat, Gada Hussain, Sadaqat Hussain, Riaz Ahmed, Raja Shamim and Mohsin Abbas. The court indicted seven accused including former SHO Amanullah Marwat.

In the court, the accused denied the crime. The court summoned the investigation officer and witnesses on the next hearing on the accused’s denial of the crime. The court also ordered the jail authorities to present the arrested accused in the next hearing.

According to the prosecution, 18 police officers and personnel including former SSP Malir Rao Anwar have been acquitted in the case. Seven police officers and officials including former SHO Amanullah Marwat were absconding in the case. The seven fugitive accused had surrendered themselves after the decision of the Anti-Terrorism Court.

In the case, one accused, Shoaib Shooter, is on bail, while six accused, including Amanullah Marwat, have been arrested.  Naqeebullah was killed in a police encounter in January 2018
