The real reason why Nupur Shikhare wore athleisure on his wedding to Ira Khan

Ira Khan, daughter of Aamir Khan, and fitness coach Nupur Shikhare exchanged vows in a registered marriage on January 3 in Mumbai, as reported by Indian media. 

The ceremony showcased a unique twist as Nupur arrived at the venue in unconventional attire - a casual vest paired with shorts. The groom's outfit while signing his marriage papers caused quite a ruckus on social media. Now, we finally know why Nupur wore what could be touted as probably the most casual outfit donned by a groom at his wedding. 

The distinctive choice was attributed to Nupur's fitness dedication; he opted to jog approximately 8 km to the wedding venue before tying the knot with Ira. However, as per Times of India, Nupur also paid homage to his love story with Ira while donning the athleisure. As per the publication, Nupur had proposed to Ira in 2022 after completing the Ironman Triathlon in Italy. He was dressed in athleisure then and looked like he wanted to wear a similar outfit for his big day. 

The couple chose an intimate setting for their nuptials, registering their marriage surrounded by close friends and family. A video shared on social media captured the heartfelt moment, portraying Ira in a resplendent traditional ensemble paired with dhoti pants and a net dupatta gracefully draped over her head. 

On the other hand, Nupur opted for a stylish blue bandhgala. The emotional presence of Aamir and Reena, looking adoringly at the newlyweds, added a touching familial touch to the ceremony.

Kiran Rao, Aamir's ex-wife, joined the celebration and was present on the stage as the couple signed the wedding registration documents, emphasising the harmonious blending of the extended family. Aamir, in a cream-coloured sherwani and a pink turban, radiated paternal pride during this momentous occasion. The family, including Aamir's sons Junaid Khan and Azad, posed together for pictures, creating lasting memories.
