A total of 159 nomination papers have been accepted for two national and four provincial assembly seats in the Abbottabad district by the Election Commission.
However, submissions made by ex-provincial assembly speaker Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani were rejected for both national and provincial assembly seats.
As per the list issued by the returning officers, a total of 29 nomination papers were accepted for NA-16. Notable candidates vying for power include former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Abbassi, former NA deputy speaker Murtaza Javed Abbassi, Ali Asghar Khan, and Rajab Ali Khan from the PTI, alongside others.

Murtaza Javed Abbassi, a multiple-term MNA from NA-16 under PML (N), will now face disgruntled PML-N leader Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan who has declared his candidacy as an independent contestant.
Similarly, for the NA-17, a total of 22 nomination papers have been accepted. Notable figures among the candidates are former MNA Ali Khan Jadoon from PTI, Saleem Shah representing PPP, Mohabat Khan of PML-N, and Farzana Mushtaq, the wife of Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani.
In the Provincial assembly constituencies, PK-42 saw 16 candidates with accepted nomination papers, PK-43 had 31 nominations accepted, whereas PK-44 recorded 28 accepted nominations.
