Dump site to give way to urban forest, solar park

Decision aims at sustainable development, environmental improvement

The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) will transform the Mahmood Booti garbage dump site into an urban forest and solar park.

The decision aimed at sustainable development and environmental improvement was taken in a meeting of the LWMC Board of Directors.

Briefing the board members, LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din said the company would transform the dump site into a solar park and urban forest in collaboration with the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) through a zero-cost project through carbon credits.

LWMC Chairman Sardar Aslam Warraich stated that the company was actively working to clean up Lahore by dumping waste at the landfill site in Lakhodair under a systematic mechanism.

The chairman of the Lahore Waste Management Company also praised a road cleaning initiative of the provincial government.
