Land dispute ends in murder-suicide

14-year-old boy gunned down in the incident

SARGODHA:

A man allegedly shot and killed a child and injured two others in Muqam Hayat on Friday. Police took the bodies of the deceased into custody and started an operation.

According to police sources, a young man named Ali entered his brother Islam’s house and allegedly began shooting indiscriminately, as a result of which his nephew Afzal was killed on the spot and 14-year-old Misbah, 21-year-old Daniyal and 50-year-old Shamim were seriously injured. After the incident, accused allegedly took his own life by shooting himself.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a contingent of police reached the scene and shifted the injured to DHQ Hospital for medical assistance. Doctors at the hospital said that both Daniyal and Shamim Bibi are in critical condition as they were shot in the neck. However, doctors are trying to save their lives.

After the incident, City police station took possession of the body and started legal proceedings. ASI Farhan told The Express Tribune that the accused Ali Imran had a dispute with his brother Islam over the distribution of a 4-marla house. The accused allegedly barged into the house and committed the murder suicide. He said that the police are conducting a further investigation.

According to eyewitnesses, the accused entered the house and opened fire. Hearing the gunfire, a large crowd of local residents gathered in front of the house. Neighbours said that there was a dispute between the two brothers over the property, however there were no prior incidents of fighting between them earlier.

Taking notice of the incident, Regional Police Officer Shariq Kamal Siddiqui asked for a detailed report from DPO Muhammad Faisal Kamran and directed hospital staff to ensure the victims receive the best medical care.

Earlier this month, five people were killed in separate murder-suicides reported across the province. Two people were killed in an incident in Noorpur Thal, while three others died in Multan.

A 20-year-old man allegedly took his own life after gunning down his cousin. The suspect, identified as Amir from Rangpur Baghor, had been engaged to his cousin Mehwish since childhood. However, Mehwish’s family arranged her marriage to another person from a distant family, leaving Amir frustrated and motivating the heart-wrenching incident.

Upon Mehwish’s return to her house on Wednesday, Amir allegedly shot her dead with a pistol. Overwhelmed by grief and loss, Amir allegedly also took his own life on the spot. Noorpur Thal police reached the scene upon reports of the murder suicide and secured the bodies, shifting them to THQ Hospital Noorpur Thal for further investigation.
