LG dept directed to start development of township
Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar has directed the Local Government Department to commence internal working for the development of a township at Taiser Town for the people displaced by the expansion of Gujjar, Mahmoodabad, and Orangi nullahs.
He gave the directives while presiding over a meeting at the Chief Minister House on Thursday where attendees included Minister of Local Government Mubin Jumani, Minister of Law Omar Soomro, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Dr Fakhre Alam, Secretary of Local Government Manzoor Shaikh, Secretary of Finance Kazim Jatoi, Secretary of Law Ali Ahmad Baloch, Commissioner Karachi Saleem Rajput, DG MDA Naseem Sahto, and other concerned officers.

Briefing the CM, Secretary Shaikh stated that a piece of 137.74 acres of land has been allocated for the 6,500 affected people of Gujjar, Mahmoodabad, and Orangi nullahs at Taiser Town, Scheme-45, Sector 16 of the Malir Development Authority. The Sindh government will allot a plot measuring 80 square yards to each affected family. After handing over the possession of the plot, with title and free from all encumbrances, the cost of construction will also be paid to the affected persons.
The chief minister directed the MDA to engage an architect for the proper development of the housing scheme for the nullah-affected people. He also instructed the MDA to develop a park, a playground, a school, and a mosque for the housing scheme, equipped with all utility facilities such as gas, water, and electricity.
