KARACHI:

The Sindh Health Department has finalised preparations for implementing the Universal Health Insurance Policy, aiming to deliver affordable and high-quality healthcare to citizens throughout the province.

Collaborative efforts with stakeholders and coordination between the Health and Law departments were highlighted in a joint statement issued on Tuesday.

Caretaker Health Minister Dr Saad Khalid Niaz emphasised the revolutionary nature of the project, assuring that it would offer cost-effective healthcare and free treatment for those living below the poverty line. The minister expressed optimism that, with the approval by the cabinet, the Universal Health Insurance initiative would soon be launched across Sindh.

Law Minister Umar Soomro underscored the importance of extending health cards to the people of Sindh, emphasising the caretaker government’s commitment to the welfare of the province’s residents. During their meeting, both ministers delved into the policy’s details, reaching agreements to resolve legal challenges.
