RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi police on Sunday claimed that a woman turned out to be the murderer of her husband who was shot dead four days ago within the jurisdiction of the Kallar Syedan police station.

According to police, the woman killed her husband, Abid Hussain, with the help of her paramour and tried to paint the incident as a robbery. Hussain, who worked for an intelligence agency, was shot dead by armed men when he was returning from his in-laws along with his wife four days ago.

The victim’s wife, Nida, described the incident as a robbery attempt and stated that she had dropped her bag midway due to which they had to stop to pick it up. Meanwhile, armed robbers killed her husband, she told the police. On Nida’s complaint, the police registered a case after which the anti-organised crime cell of the Rawalpindi police began to investigate the case. The police thoroughly interrogated the victim’s wife on suspicion after which it was revealed that she had planned to kill her husband along with her paramour, Zahid. Both the accused were arrested on murder charges.

The police further stated that the deceased, Abid Hussain, had tied the knot with Nida, a year ago. He was working for an intelligence organisation and had come back home on leave. His wife planned the murder and tried to paint it as a murder due to resistance during the robbery. Police added that Nida and Zahid worked at the same organisation and had illicit relations before Nida got married to Abid.

In this regard, Rawalpindi City Police Officer Khalid Hamdani lauded the performance of the police team in resolving the case by tracing out the suspects. He said the accused would be charge-sheeted with solid evidence and would be punished according to law.
