From his soul-stirring performance in the 2010 television period drama Dastaan to once again capturing our hearts with his phenomenal delivery in the 2022 blockbuster The Legend of Maula Jatt, Fawad Khan has etched his name with an array of impressive roles in Pakistan's entertainment landscape. If you've been missing his on-screen presence, fret not, because this Pakistani sensation is set to grace our screens once more with a lineup of promising projects.
Fawad is all set to join hands with Mahira yet again, for the upcoming Pakistani film Neelofar. Additionally, they will collaborate on Netflix's first Pakistan-themed original series, Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo, based on Farhat Ishtiaq's bestselling novel. The series, produced by Waqas Hassan and Shailja Kejriwal for Zindagi, also features Sanam Saeed, Ahad Raza Mir, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Bilal Ashraf, Maya Ali, and more. A project titled Aan is also one that fans can look forward to.
Another project in the pipeline for the star is Barzakh, where he will join forces with Sanam Saeed. The family drama revolves around an elderly man's pursuit of love, delving into intergenerational trauma amidst a fantastical world of supernatural elements. Fawad will portray a single parent haunted by guilt, while Sanam takes on a central female role, promising abstract beauty and narrative complexity for an international audience.
Speaking at the National Icon Awards 2023 in August, Fawad delivered a poignant address, expressing his hope for an independent and thriving entertainment industry, harmonising with governmental support. He hailed the unity among the artists and conveyed his appreciation for being part of an industry that has produced distinguished and senior figures.
"It's an honour to be amongst very distinguished and senior artists who are with us today," said the global superstar. "I am very honoured to receive this award and to be a part of this fraternity and, God-willing, the steps that are being taken...I hope it turns into a very cohesive movement and we take this ahead in a unified front and God-willing, our industry becomes a truly independent industry - not reliant, with the help of the government - but eventually becomes an industry of its own."
