RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Education Department is set to launch an e-pension system on January 1, 2024, to enable retired teachers, academic officers, and non-teaching staff to submit their pension cases conveniently online.

To streamline this process, the education department has also introduced a dedicated mobile app that will enable applicants to conveniently submit and scrutinise pension applications and access pertinent information. Moreover, real-time updates on pension statuses will be readily available to all pension applicants.

This new online pension system has garnered a positive response from teachers' organisations. Leaders like Muhammad Shafiq Bhalwalia, Basharat Iqbal Raja, and Shahid Mubarak expressed confidence in the system’s potential to combat corruption and bribery effectively.

They believe this innovative system will empower teachers to file appeals from the comfort of their homes conveniently.

As per the ministry of education sources, the new pension app is scheduled to be launched on December 30, 2023. This initiative ensures that teachers and education officers gain access to comprehensive information. Additionally, individuals retiring in the upcoming year will need to submit their pension cases online.

The approval status of cases will also be reported online. Furthermore, all departments and facilities centres within the education department are expected to be operational online within the first quarter of the New Year.
