VEHARI:

Three suspected robbers were killed while a Counter Crime Department (CCD) constable was injured in an encounter.

According to sources, a CCD Vehari team was patrolling the area when six unidentified armed men opened fire on the police party with the intent to commit a crime. Police retaliated in self-defence, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire. During the crossfire, Constable Naeem Shoukat sustained bullet injuries, while three of the suspects were hit by their own companions' firing and collapsed on the spot. Taking advantage of the darkness, their accomplices managed to escape.

Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the scene and confirmed that the three suspects had died on the spot. Their bodies were shifted for post-mortem, while the injured constable was moved to District Headquarters Hospital Vehari.

The deceased were later identified as Nazar Muhammad, Akram, and Tanveer Ahmad. Police confirmed that all three had criminal records in multiple districts, including Vehari, Sialkot, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, and Narowal.

Authorities revealed that the slain suspects were involved in a robbery at a house in Thingi area just two days earlier.

Police recovered two snatched motorcycles, two mobile phones, and two pistols from their possession.
