KARACHI:

Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Director General Ishaq Khoro, under court orders, has ordered registration of cases against more than a dozen employees involved in corruption.

According to the text of the FIR, the employees are accused of being involved in facilitating illegal constructions.

Sources said that DG Khoro was summoned by the Sindh High Court in various cases of illegal constructions in the city. Khoro was reprimanded by the SHC bench for illegal constructions going on under his watch.

Therefore, the director general of the regulatory body decided to take action against the employees facilitating the illegal construction activities in the metropolis.

Sources claimed that there is a gang of powerful and politically well-connected employees in the SBCA which runs the 'system' of allowing illegal constructions against bribes and stopping legal construction to extract bribes.

Sources say that even now thousands of illegal buildings are being constructed in Karachi, but there is no one to stop them. On the contrary, citizens cannot complete their legal construction work without greasing the palm of corrupt officials and their associates.
