Importance of vote highlighted to elect right candidates

Shazia Marri emphasises that every citizen must read Constitution to better understand their fundamental rights

Former federal minister for poverty alleviation & social safety and Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Shazia Marri has stressed on the importance of voting in elections to elect the right candidates.

She was speaking at the inaugural session of the first Inclusive Youth Parliament organised by Ida Rieu Schools and Colleges.

Ida Rieu Schools and Colleges for the Blind and Deaf launched the first of its kind, an inclusive IRWA Youth Parliament with six days of session starting from December 18, 2023 till December 23rd 2023, to promote inclusivity, to empower students with visual, hearing, and physical impairments and to encourage them to take active part in the democratic processes.

Shazia Marri emphasized that every citizen must read the Constitution of Pakistan in order to better understand their fundamental rights.

Marri stressed upon the need for a strong parliamentary system as the way forward for political and economic stability in the country.  She said that the role of all institutions was well defined in the Constitution adding that ideal democracy in the country was linked with constitutional supremacy.
