KARACHI:

A teenage girl suffering from scalding wounds escaped her home to take refuge at the local police station.

Pakistan Bazaar police station SHO Shakeel Rind said that 16-year-old Dua Zafar fled her home in Gulshan Zia Colony and reached the police station to seek protection from her family.

In her statement to the police, Dua said that there was an argument between her brother's wife and her mother four days ago. As she tried to stop the altercation, hot water spilled on her, causing burn injuries.

However, instead of seeking medical attention, her family treated her at home. Today, she fled from home and sought assistance at the police station.

The SHO mentioned that Dua sustained burns on her back due to the hot water. She has since been transferred to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment.

Following the victim's statement, her sister-in-law and brother were summoned to the police station, and an investigation has commenced. Further legal action will be determined based on the investigation's findings.
