Man kills wife before turning gun on himself

Heated arguements on domestic issues led to tragedy

KARACHI:

A middle-aged man shot dead his wife before turn- ing the gun on himself over a domestic dispute in Malir City on Saturday.

According to Farast Ali Shah, SHO Malir City police station, Mashkoor Hussain, a 45-year-old res- ident of Gulshan-e- Qadri, had a heated argument with his 33-year-old wife, Rukhshanda Naz over some domestic issue. He allegedly pulled out a gun and shot dead his wife and then ended his own life.

Police reached the crime scene and seized the murder weapon.

Before the deadly shooting, Mashkoor shouted through a window of his house to grab attention, prompting residents to gather. Local residents at- tempted to prevent him, but he retreated inside, ultimately taking both lives.

The main gate of the home was locked from in- side, so police used a ladder to reach the first floor.

The deceased, Rukhshanda Naz, originally from Rahim Yar Khan, was his second wife, and the couple had a two-year-old son. The child survived unharmed and is now in police custody.

Additional background information revealed that Mashkoor had a previous marriage in London, which ended, leading to his second marriage with Rukhshanda Naz, who was her relative. He owned a grocery store, a business financed by his parents.

Police investigators gathered vital forensic evidence from the crime scene and transported the bodies to the JPMC for post-mortem examina- tion. Further investigation is ongoing.
