LAHORE:

People from the areas comprising the Salt Range have decided that they would not allow the hunting of the black partridge anymore.

Officially, hunting of the black pheasant is allowed only on Sundays effective from December 1 until January 31 by the Punjab Wildlife Department.

Hundreds of hunters from Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura and Rawalpindi visited the Salt Range on December 3 and 10 where they hunted pheasants.

However, local people have come forward, forming “Danda Bardar” groups in Bhatti Gujjar village of Kallar Kahar tehsil of Chakwal.
