Dengue fever: 1,513 cases reported so far, says Health Dept

67 cases have been reported since Saturday, of which 25 patients were under treatment in various hospitals.

A special cell, set up at Health secretary’s office, is monitoring the situation regarding dengue infection and providing all diagnostic and treatment facilities to the patients in the city hospitals, a Health Department spokesman said on Sunday.


He said that as many as 1,513 dengue fever patients have recovered so far and 67 cases have been reported since Saturday, of which 25 patients were under treatment in various hospitals. The remaining cases, he said, have been reported in laboratories and outdoors of various hospitals.

The spokesman said that 80 per cent of the dengue cases had been reported in posh areas like Defence, Model Town and Cantonment. Meanwhile, Health secretary has ordered an investigation into the death of a dengue fever patient, Saeed Anwar, in Lahore General Hospital. He directed the Health director general to submit a report in this regard.
