The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has prohibited the caretaker government of Sindh from the transfer and posting of BPS16 revenue officials wielding significant public influence due to their responsibility for land records.
In a letter addressed to the provincial chief secretary, the ECP expressed concern over the caretaker government's approval of appointments and transfers of mukhtiarkars in various districts of Sindh.
The supervisory body highlighted that these officials are likely to be involved in election duties during the general elections scheduled for February 2024, and any premature transfer may disrupt the smooth conduct of election activities.

Consequently, the ECP emphasised that these officers cannot be appointed or transferred without the explicit approval of the commission.
Acting on the ECP's directives, the Services and General Administration Department of Sindh formally notified the senior member of the Board of Revenue, urging the immediate cessation of the implementation of any orders pertaining to the transfer of these officials.
