Islamabad district administration has approved the establishment of the National Fisheries Laboratory in the federal capital in collaboration with the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Fisheries Department.
Informed sources revealed that the fisheries laboratory, spanning 10 Kanals of land near Rawal Dam, will conduct fish post-mortems, water tests, and examinations on water sourced from Rawal Dam, Salmi Dam, Khanpur Dam, and other reservoirs.

The project, with an estimated cost of Rs30 million, aims to gather valuable information on the plant growth within these dams.
To ensure the laboratory's modern capabilities, missions from Korea will be enlisted, and senior officers from the fisheries department will undergo training in Korea. Commissioner Islamabad Anwarul Haq and Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon have given their approval for the initiation of the National Fisheries Laboratory.
