Lists for appointment of ROs sent to ECP

Leaves of proposed officers have been cancelled from Dec 15 to Feb 10

As preparations for the upcoming general elections are underway, the district administration has prepared the lists for the appointment of returning and assistant returning officers and sent them to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for approval.

According to sources, the deputy commissioners of all the six districts of Rawalpindi Division, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Murree, Chakwal, Jhelum and Talagang will be district returning officers.

Additional deputy commissioner general, additional district deputy commissioner revenue, additional deputy commissioner headquarters, district council chief officer and the district election commissioners will be returning officers of 13 National Assembly constituencies across the division and all assistant commissioners will be the assistant returning officers.

The leaves of all the officers included in the list of returning and assistant returning officers from December 15 to February 10 have been cancelled. Each returning and assistant returning officer will be provided with one policeman, one laptop with internet, one helper and one clerk for transport and election duty.

With the issuance of the notification of appointment, their offices will be declared as returning offices where the provision of the necessary stationery will be ensured by the ECP. Further, official vehicles and drivers will also be provided for election duty.

Additionally, the Regional Transport Authority has started rounding up vehicles for election duties under the district administration’s directives.

The RTA secretary Saturday met with the presidents and secretaries of the transport organisations across the district in which it was decided that 350 vehicles, including Suzuki vans, wagons and jeeps would be procured for election duties across the district.
