ISLAMABAD:

The Supreme Court has ordered registration of a case against former SHO Mirpur Mathelo Khalid Hussain who along with a police party, is accused of demolishing a citizen's house and looting all the belongings.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood heard the petition filed by the aggrieved citizen through his lawyer Advocate Bushra Qamar. The court expressed ire over DIG Sukkur for not registering the case from January 2022 till now.

Justice Masood asked whether or not a cognizable offence has been committed. DIG Sukkur informed the court that as per report, Khalid Hussain has committed a cognizable offence.

Why didn't the police conduct an inquiry even after the inquiry report came to light? Justice Sardar Tariq Masood asked. Police officials responded that the Sindh High Court had annulled the inquiry officer's letter.

Justice Masood stated that the letter was annulled, but the report is still in its place. The accused was given time by the DIG to appear before the Sindh High Court. Why was legal action not taken against the concerned police officers? A case would have been registered, and then whatever decision is taken in the enquiry.
