Traders, govt cannot work separately: LCCI
Traders and the government are equally important to each other as they cannot move ahead solely, said President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Kashif Anwar, on Tuesday. The government should create business-friendly policies and address the real problems of businessmen so that they can supplement the government's efforts towards the economic development of the country, he said.
The LCCI president expressed these views while talking to a delegation from the Tanzeem Sheikh Khawaja Community.
According to a press statement, Anwar said that the chamber is raising the issues faced by the business community at supreme forums and is actively working to ensure a business-friendly environment. He informed the delegation that the ongoing year of LCCI has been declared as the year of Business Compliance and Facilitation.

To ensure relief for the business community, it is necessary to make the tax system simple and easy, Anwar said, adding that tax net expansion would also reduce the burden on existing taxpayers. The LCCI president was of the view that a uniform business environment can be ensured across the country by harmonising provincial and federal taxes and asked the delegation to forward their suggestions to the LCCI.
He told the delegation that LCCI’s main function is policy advocacy. With input from standing committees, LCCI suggests workable solutions. These issues are raised at the highest government forums for early resolution.
