Couple shot dead over petty issue

Neighbours had heated argument and opened fire at them, says police

ISLAMABAD:

Two armed men shot and killed a couple, Engineer Muhammad Asim Long and his wife Rida-e-Noor, in the limits of Barakahu police station late Monday night.

According to the police, the assailants, identified as Shareefullah and Ismail, who were the couple’s neighbours had a heated argument with them and opened fire at them when the victims' vehicle blocked their passage.

The police confirmed that the culprits were Afghan nationals who managed to escape after committing the crime. Miraculously, the couple’s daughter, Sabrina, narrowly escaped the gunfire and survived the attack.

The bodies were taken to the polyclinic for completing medico-legal formalities.

Barakahu SHO Ashiq Khan informed The Express Tribune that three dedicated teams had been formed and efforts were being made to apprehend the suspects.
