At least eight more people died in Sindh where torrential downpours continued on Sunday.
The heavy rains hit Hyderabad (26mm), Matiari, Sanghar, Dadu, Jamshoro and Thatta and made life worse in the already calamity-hit districts of Nawabshah (18mm), Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Badin (17mm) and Mirpurkhas (63mm).
Three people died of gastroenteritis. In Mirpurkhas, 47-year-old Rasool Bux Gorchani, 30-year-old Sughran of Haji Sawan village in Badin, and 45-year-old Jan Muhammad in Shahpur Chakar area of Shahdadpur died. Rab Nawaz Banglani, 50, was electrocuted when he touched a pole in Mubarak Khaskheli village, in Mirpurkhas. In Bhirya tehsil of Naushero Feroz, Muhammad Sharif, 42, was also electrocuted.
In Sanghar, 25-year-old Ramji Bheel and 30-year-old Kanti Kohli drowned in separate saline-water drains. In Matiari, in Ghulam Talpur village of Bhitshah tehsil, four people were injured when the roof of their house collapsed. One of them, Ehsan Ali, was brought to Civil Hospital, Hyderabad in critical condition. In Dadu’s Hashim Lund village, six-year-old Sakina died when the roof of her house collapsed.
