The Communicable Disease Control (CDC) Programme in Sindh orchestrated an awareness walk on World AIDS Day at Sea View, aiming to foster individual-level awareness about HIV/AIDS in society.
Medical professionals, nursing college students, UNICEF representatives, and welfare organisations participated in the event, advocating for solidarity with those affected by HIV/AIDS.

CDC Additional Director Sikander Memon said stigma prevents infected individuals from seeking treatment, clarifying that HIV/AIDS doesn’t solely result from sexual contact but can be transmitted through various means.
He said early detection and treatment enable patients to lead healthy lives. CDC has registered 20,300 HIV-AIDS patients at its eight centres in Karachi.
