No clue to whereabouts of abducted toddler

Police have failed to find a clue to the whereabouts of a toddler abducted a week ago from the Qayyumabad B Area of the metropolitan city.

As per details, one year-old Hussain, son of Mohammad Rasheed, was abducted on November 20 from House No 7, Street No 23, Qayyumabad B Area, which lies within the remits of Defence police station.

In the police complaint, Rasheed, a scrap dealer hailing from South Punjab said, "I returned home at around 1:30pm on November 20. My family informed me that Hussain's cousin, five year-old Rabia, daughter of Muhammad Akram, had taken him out to play in the street."

"Rabia recalled that at around 1pm, a man along with a lady came in a rickshaw. They snatched Hussain and fled." Rashid and his family members searched everywhere but could not find Hussain.

The duty officer of Defence police station, ASI Shahid Ahmed, registered the case and launched investigation.

While speaking to The Express Tribune, Rashid expressed frustration at the slow pace of investigation, saying he has repeatedly visited the police station, but there has been no progress.

Kulsoom, Hussain's grandmother, shared that she had moved from Bahawalpur to Karachi with her two sons to look for better economic prospects.

She urged the caretaker chief minister, governor, IG police, and other authorities to recover her grandson.
