HYDERABAD:

In an uncommon criticism, the Caretaker Chief Minister, Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar, chastised the bureaucracy and civic officials for 'defacing' the beauty of Hyderabad.

"The inefficiency, corruption, and unwillingness to work have destroyed and defaced the beautiful city of Hyderabad," he told them at a meeting at Shahbaz Building, regional bureaucracy headquarters, in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

"I know you have played havoc with every civic facility," he berated. "Neither the city is swept properly, nor is the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) properly operating its sewerage and water supply network."

He observed that the city offered a reflection of a place brimming with garbage heaps while hard and soft encroachments have visibly messed up the matters further.

"This mess is unacceptable and intolerable at all and the responsible will face the consequences," he warned, telling the officials that he will deal with them ruthlessly if they do not mend their ways.

Reportedly, he started his two-day visit to Hyderabad from Monotechnic Institute, Kohsar, which functions under Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA).
