Kakar arrives in Abu Dhabi on two-day visit

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar on Sunday arrived in Abu Dhabi on a two-day bilateral visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for talks with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.

UAE Minister of Justice Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi and Pakistani diplomats welcomed the interim prime minister at the airport. During his Nov 26-28 visit, the prime minister would discuss bilateral ties in all spheres.

“This engagement will provide an opportunity to advance bilateral ties in all spheres, including political, economic, trade, investment, cultural, defence and people-to- people relations,” the Foreign Office spokesperson had said in an earlier statement.

“The visit will include signing of [seven] MoUs [worth $10 billion] between Pakistan and the UAE in a range of areas, including investment cooperation in the sectors of energy, port operations projects, waste water treatment, food security, logistics, mining, aviation, and banking and financial services,” it added.
 

The PM Office Media Wing had also said on Thursday that Prime Minister Kakar would represent Pakistan during the high-level segment of 28th Conference of Parties (COP-28) being held in the UAE on Dec 1-2.

As part of preparations for the COP-28, the prime minister had chaired an inter-provincial review meeting, directing the relevant authorities to make full preparations for effectively presenting Pakistan’s stance during the COP-28 on climate finance and other issues effectively.
