A female school teacher died while 15 students were injured after a school bus travelling from Sheikhupura to Islamabad met with a tragic accident near the Shahdara area after veering out of control of its driver on Saturday.
According to police and rescue sources, the school children, on a picnic trip to the federal capital, faced an unfortunate mishap within the jurisdiction of Shahdara.
The rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene as soon as the incident was reported. The deceased teacher was identified as Hania, 22. The injured students were promptly shifted to a Federal Government Services Hospital (Poly Clinic) and Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), with rescue teams actively engaged in the operation to transport the children safely.

According to the eyewitnesses, the accident happened due to the negligence of the bus driver. The name of the bus driver is said to be Riaz. The bus was carrying 59 people including 41 children and 13 teachers.
The injured children include Hurriyat Fatima, 9, Noor Fatima, 12, Abu Bakr, 9, Faizan Jameel, 12, and Muhasim, 12, who suffered a broken backbone, after which he was shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital.
The other injured children were shifted to PIMS and their condition is said to be out of danger.
