'Tradition meets melody': Inside Imamul Haq's Qawwali night

The popular cricketer's wedding festivities are being attended by some of the biggest names in the sport

Cricket sensation Imamul Haq is gearing up for his wedding with Anmol Mehmood, his fiancée from Norway, who recently gained attention following a mehndi event in Scandinavia. The 27-year-old cricketer took to his official Instagram account to share pictures from the first event of his wedding festivities.

Depicting the couple affectionately, Imam announced “Tradition meets melody, ready for our qawwali night” in the captions. Images and videos from the event quickly spread across social media, highlighting the presence of former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, who is also Imam's best friend. Other prominent attendees included Pakistani cricketers Usman Qadir, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Kamran Akmal, and former chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq.

Simultaneously, the bride-to-be shared enchanting photos with her soon-to-be-husband on her official Instagram account. The event exhibited a sophisticated black and grey theme, with the couple elegantly attired in matching outfits. 

Imam wore a black chikankari kurta embellished with mirrors, while Anmol adorned a silver-grey bridal gown featuring intricate embroidery in the same colour. Anmol complemented her attire with soft curls, minimal jewelry, and a subtle glam makeup look. Noteworthy is the adherence of the attending cricketers to the black and grey theme for their outfits.

Given that the ICC World Cup final was held on November 19 in Ahmedabad, the decision to hold the wedding festivities post the mega event reflects a strategic consideration. It has been reported that cricketing stars, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, and others from the national team, are anticipated to grace the joyous occasion. Invitations will also extend to former players and management personnel, creating a blend of past and present cricketing luminaries at the celebration.

Anmol seems to have been revealed to the world by none other than ace designer, HSY. The Instagram page for his creations shared an image of Anmol Mehmood, with the caption, "Imam's Anmol" in Urdu. The handle also tagged both the cricketer and his future wife.
