Pindi police register case, arrest main accused and his alleged accomplice

RAWALPINDI:

A girl was allegedly raped by her friend and his three accomplices within the Jurisdiction of the Waris Khan police station in Rawalpindi, it emerged on Thursday.

According to a spokesperson for the police, the victim lodged a complaint with the local police, stating that she was visiting her brother in the Sadiqabad area of the garrison city and had come all the way from Lahore.

She befriended a boy named Sardar on TikTok, who invited her to 6th Road. Upon arrival, Sardar and an unknown friend picked her up in a car and took her to a house in Amarpura. After leaving her there, Sardar informed her that he was going to get food.

During his absence, another person forcibly raped her. Subsequently, two unknown boys arrived and assaulted her. Upon Sardar's return, he, too, allegedly raped her.

The victim raised the alarm, attracting the attention of neighbours. The accused dismissed the gathering, claiming it was a personal matter.

Seizing an opportunity, she contacted Rescue 15.

Meanwhile, Waris Khan SHO Inspector Malik Naseer stated that a case has been registered, with the main accused Sardar and another individual named Mohsin already in custody.

Ongoing raids are being conducted to apprehend the remaining suspects, and an investigation into the case is underway.

Three cops suspended over ‘negligence’

Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer (RPO) Syed Khurram Ali has suspended the Station House Officers (SHOs) of three different police stations of the garrison city for the escape of accused in serious cases from police custody and negligence in land grabbing cases.

According to the information received from the RPO office, RPO Khurram Ali, had issued a show-cause notice to Sub-Inspector Gul Taj, the SHO of Cantt police station, on the charge of letting a dacoit gang escape from police custody. Despite repeated summons by the RPO, neither SI Gul Taj appeared before the RPO nor submitted his reply, at which he was dismissed from service.

Police sources said SI Gul Taj has been dismissed twice from his job in two years. Earlier, former CPO Ahsan Younis had dismissed Gul Taj from police service for allegedly harassing a lady police officer and was reinstated on appeal.

Similarly, a show-cause notice was issued to Rawat police station SHO Inspector Hamid Kazmi on the charge of letting an accused involved in a serious case escape from the custody of Rawat police. Inspector Kazmi did not appear before the RPO despite being summoned by him at which the RPO dismissed him from his job.

According to the RPO office, the Dhamiyal police station SHO Hasnain Shah was also issued a show-cause notice by the RPO for alleged negligence in a case pertaining to land grabbing but the SHO did not submit any reply in his defines and despite repeated summons, he did not appear before the RPO, resulting in his dismissal from service.

The RPO has informed the City Police Officer (CPO) in writing about his decision. All the SHOs, who have been dismissed from their jobs, have been ordered to leave charge of their posts with immediate effect.

In September this year, RPO Khurram Ali dismissed the SHOs of Sadiqabad and Newtown police stations over allegations of incompetence and negligence in an abduction case that unfolded within the Sadiqabad area in the previous month.

Six more cops face departmental wrath

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Syed Khurram Ali has issued punishment orders against six police officers found guilty of negligence in departmental affairs following personal hearings and inquiries.

According to sources, show-cause notices were previously issued to these officers on various occasions and for various reasons.

RPO Syed Khurram Ali conducted a meeting at his office to hear responses related to the show-cause notices and charge sheets issued to the officers. The meeting reviewed the answers provided by the officers concerned and subsequently issued departmental punishments for unsatisfactory responses regarding show-cause notices, charge sheets, and allegations during the inquiry and hearing.
