Dar to continue as house leader

ISLAMABAD:

Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi on Monday revealed to the Senate that caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar had endorsed Senator Ishaq Dar as the house leader.

Additionally, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla will continue as the chief whip with the status of minister of state.

On a point raised by Senator Shahadat Awan during the session on Oct 30 regarding the status of leaders of the house and opposition as well as the chief whip after the completion of the constitutional tenure of the last government, the minister clarified that as per parliamentary traditions, they would continue to perform their responsibilities.

A notification regarding the appointment of Mandviwalla as chief whip had also been reissued, he added.
Later, the Senate chairman postponed the session until 10am on Nov 21 (today).
