The Bilal Express en route to Rawalpindi from Multan plowed into a car, killing its driver on the spot.
Abdul Kareem, a contractor and resident of Kandian Chashma Road, had been on his way home in his car. While crossing a temporary railway crossing established near the railway graveyard, the Bilal Express, going from Multan to Rawalpindi, zoomed into his car, squashing the vehicle and killing Abdul Kareem on the spot.
Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot, took Abdul Kareem's body out of the car and shifted it to hospital.
The temporary railway crossing established near the Kandian Railway cemetery has already claimed many lives. A few years ago there was an accident of a rickshaw loaded with passengers at the same place in which eight members of the same family had died.

People of the area have demanded of the higher authorities of the railways to immediately install a permanent railway crossing at this place to prevent the loss of precious lives.
Just a week ago, the Lala Musa bound Millat Express narrowly escaped a major accident after it smashed into a tractor which was passing at Qutubpur railway crossing near Jahania.
Pakistan Railways sources said that the tractor was smashed into pieces when the train hit it.
No loss of life was reported in the accident, they said and added that after being alerted, Railway Police reached the spot and arrested the tractor driver.
DS Railways Multan Division Mehmood Rehman Lakho said crossing a railway track carelessly puts the lives of the people and crew at stake.
He appealed to the people not to violate rules and regulations and use railway crossing to cross the track.
