LAHORE:

A 15-year-old boy died after a speeding car hit him in DHA Phase-VII on Saturday.

Reportedly, the victim Zain Wali was trying to cross a road when the car hit him. He died of injuries suffered in the accident.

The body was moved to a morgue for autopsy. Police said they were searching for the car driver and investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, at least 10 people died, whereas 1,397 were injured in 1,291 road traffic crashes (RTCs) in Punjab during the past 24 hours.

At least 697 people were shifted to different hospitals after the accidents, while 700 with minor injuries were treated at the sites by Rescue Medical Teams.

As many as 75 per cent of the road crashes involved motorbikes.

Official data showed that 705 adult and 51 underage drivers, 179 pedestrians and 523 passengers were among the victims of the road traffic crashes, of which 283 were reported in Lahore with 295 people affected, 99 in Faisalabad with 105 victims and 91 in Multan with 101 victims.
