Non bailable arrest warrants were issued against three men, including federal minister Aijaz Jakharani’s father, Babal Khan Jakharani, by the district court on Monday.

Second assistant sessions Judge Humayun Rand directed the police to issue warrants against Babal, his son, Khalid Khan Jakharani and their relative, Asif Jakharani, whose names were registered in an FIR for taking part in a feud that occurred in 2006.

A fight had erupted between Babal and national assembly’s former speaker Ilahi Buksh Soomro during 2006’s local government elections when Begum Saeeda Soomro won the seat of the UC nazim.

Ilahi Buksh Soomro’s nominee Raja Abdul Rahim Khosa registered a complaint at the Taluka Municipal Office, accusing Begum Saeeda Soomro’s party, of which Babal was a member, of casting bogus votes at the polling station, after which Babal and Ilahi Buksh Soomro exchanged hot words. This was followed by aerial firing that was conducted by the supporters of both parties, after which the two men had registered cases against each other at the Civil Lines police station.

While the issue had been resolved later and Babal had taken back the case, the FIR registered against Babal by Soomro was not taken back after which the court asked Babal, along with other men, to present himself before the judge.

After Babal and his family failed to show up on numerous occasions, Judge Rand ordered the police to arrest the men and present them before the court on July 16.
