Overruling the office objections on the petitions filed by the former federal interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s ex-member of the National Assembly from Attock, Major (retd) Tahir Sadiq, seeking details of cases registered against them, Lahore High Court (LHC)’s Rawalpindi Bench Judge Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz Monday ordered the office to fix them for regular hearing.
The petitions are likely to be fixed for hearing on Tuesday, November 14 [today]. The office had raised objections, stating therein that the relevant documents were not attached to the petitions.
Meanwhile, Advocate Sardar Abdul Raziq was of the opinion that the “relevant documents are not within our reach. We have come to the court to seek justice. Sheikh Rashid’s name was not included in any of the cases pertaining to the May 9 incidents, but after five months, his name was included in all May 9 cases, which is political vendetta.”
The petitioners’ counsel went on to argue “We just want the Punjab government and the IGP to tell us how many cases are registered against Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Major (retd) Tahir Sadiq so that they can pursue the cases.”
According to sources, a total of 86 cases have been registered against the former interior minister.
