Car carrying four people was rear-ended by coach

KURIANWALA:

A Khurrianwala-bound coach rammed into a car and then a tractor-trolley near the Dramanwala Morh on the Lahore-Sheikhupura Road early Sunday morning, killing five people and injuring eight others.

The deceased were identified as the bus driver, Abdul Qayyum, 57, and the car occupants, M. Waleed, 25, Raza Khalil, 25, Matin Saleem, 18, and Manzoor Khalil, 30.

All of them died on the spot. The car riders were residents of Misri Shah in Lahore. Among the deceased, Raza and Manzoor were brothers.

Their car had been rear-ended by the coach.

The occupants of the tractor-trolley escaped unhurt.

Sources said that the bodies and the injured remained lying at the scene of the accident for several hours before rescue workers shifted the injured to hospital while Khurrianwala Police took possession of the bodies and shifted them to the mortuary at the Rural Health Centre (RHC) in Khurrianwala.

Four days ago, seven people had died and three sustained injuries after a speeding trailer collided with a rickshaw on the Lodhran-Bahawalpur Road.

Those traveling in the rickshaw were on their way to Bahawalpur Khokho to attend a wedding ceremony.

The trailer hit the rickshaw from behind in front of a private hospital on the Lodhran-Bahawalpur Road. As a result, seven people died while three sustained injuries.

The Rescue 1122 officials reached the spot and provided medical aid to the wounded, who were later shifted to the district hospital.

The deceased were identified as Salman, 14, Munawar Rehman, 10, Sabra Bibi, 24, Kamran, 10, Abid, 25, Sajda Bibi, 4, and Allah Ditta, 36.

The trailer driver was caught by a private security guard and handed over to the police.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), Syeda Amna Maududi, had reached the accident site and supervised the shifting of the injured to the district hospital while asking the hospital staff to provide the injured with the best of care.
