Road crashes leave 17 dead

As many as 17 people were killed and 1,199 were injured in 1,117 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Of the injured, 617 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 582 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams. The majority of RTCs, 75 percent, involved motorbikes.

Further analysis showed that 578 drivers, 43 underage drivers, 123 pedestrians and 515 passengers were among the victims of RTCs.

The statistics show that 216 RTCs were reported in Lahore with 233 victims, placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list. Faisalabad followed behind with 100 RTCs and 102 victims and Multan at third with 71 RTCs and 69 victims.

The details further reveal that 1,216 victims were affected by RTCs, including 992 males and 224 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 219 were under 18 years of age, 633 were between 18 and 40 years old and the remaining 364 victims were reportedly above 40 years of age.

According to the data, 983 motorbikes, 72 rickshaws, 112 cars, 25 vans, 12 passenger buses, 19 trucks and 112 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the aforementioned RTCs.
