QUETTA:

Haq Do Tehreek Chief Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman has urged both the provincial and federal governments to take immediate action to halt illegal trawling activities in Gwadar.

During a press conference at the Quetta Press Club, Rehman expressed deep concern over the government’s failure to address the issue despite repeated appeals.

Highlighting the severe impact of illegal trawling, Rehman emphasised that it has led to the loss of employment for thousands of fishermen, who depend on the coastal areas for their livelihood.

He underlined the significance of the coastal belt and the borders with Iran and Afghanistan as major sources of income for the local population.

Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman claimed that people are facing hindrances in conducting business activities at the coast, as well as at the Pak-Afghan border in Chaman and the Pak-Iran border in Taftan.

The HDT Chief called for urgent measures to put an end to these illegal practices, emphasising the importance of preserving the economic well-being of the affected communities.
