Superstar Mahira Khan, the Goodwill Ambassador for United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees (UNHCR), took to social media and shared her two cents on the ongoing Afghan refugee crackdown in the country.

In recent weeks, there has been a growing spotlight on the widespread displacement of Afghan refugees from Pakistan, drawing substantial concern from human rights organizations and influential figures regarding the treatment of these uprooted individuals. Alongside this, notable personalities and celebrities have also raised their voices in response to the unfolding situation.

Mahira, who previously made headlines for working with the aforementioned refugees, shared her take on the matter and raised her voice against the crackdown. "No one leaves their home behind by choice," the Verna actor shared. "Here in Pakistan, I’ve been proud of our tradition of hospitality towards those in search of safety, dignity and respect. For over 40 years we have provided safety to our Afghan brothers and sisters in need."

She added, "There are people who are still in need of our kindness and compassion, who are at risk if they return. I appeal to my government to continue to support those who need it."

Previously, the Bin Roye actor took to social media to remind everyone about the plight of refugees and the nation giving many of them a home. "They've been denied a home, but we haven't denied them hope," Mahira tweeted.

She continued, "Pakistan has been hosting millions of Afghan refugees over several years and continues to do so, we have given them a home within our motherland." A UNHCR video alongside the tweet was attached, with Mahira narrating Pakistan's assistance of Afghan refugees over the past 40 years.
