An accountability court in Islamabad has summoned PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in Thatta Water Supply reference on December 18.
According to Express News, Judge Muhammad Bashir heard the reference on Wednesday, directing the former president and 14 others to appear in the court on the next date of hearing.
The accused included former secretary Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Ali Akbar Abro, Aijaz Memon, Abdul Ghani Majeed, Manahil Majeeb and Nadeem Bhutto.
The PPP co-chairman was indicted in the water supply reference in October 2020 before the NAO amendments. It was an offshoot of the fake bank accounts case.
The water supply reference pertained to alleged illegal award of a contract by the special initiative department for water supply scheme, Thatta, to private contractor.
In January, an accountability court had sent back a corruption reference against former president Zardari after the amendments to the National Accountability Bureau.
