In a promising turn of events, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) took to the skies with 61 operational flights on Wednesday after enhanced fuel supply.
The national flag carrier, which had been recently grappling with fuel supply issues, made a payment of Rs50 million to Pakistan State Oil (PSO) for the provision of fuel, allowing for a partial revival of its services.
However, domestic flight services continue to grapple with disruption.
According to a PIA spokesperson, Wednesday's operation of 61 flights marks a significant recovery, saying an impressive 90 per cent of their usual capacity has been resuscitated.
On Tuesday, the PIA saw 51 flights taking off on both domestic and international routes. Although the majority of these flights were international, concerted efforts are being directed towards the resumption of domestic and smaller sector flights.
The spokesperson disclosed that the Ministry of Religious Affairs has settled outstanding dues exceeding Rs50 million, enabling the airline to pay for its fuel supply.
With the payment resolved, it was hoped that flight operations would be fully restored to 100 per cent capacity by Thursday, he added.
It is worth noting that, PIA had to recently cancel several domestic and a few international flights.Dedicated menu for childrenMeanwhile, in a bid to enhance the inflight experience for young travellers, the PIA has rolled out a dedicated menu designed especially for children.
Under the management's recent initiative, PIA has introduced a distinct menu tailored exclusively for children.
PIA's spokesperson said that the offerings featured on the newly unveiled kids' menu include a delightful assortment of doughnuts, cupcakes, nuggets, pastries, and a selection of various juices.
