HARIPUR:

Three people, including two women, lost their lives after being bitten by bees in a village in Khanpur.

The deceased included Nadia Habib, 16, Musarrat Bibi, 22, and Faisal Shahzad, 28. The bodies were shifted to the Haripur Trauma Centre for completing medico-legal formalities.

Those who are in critical condition after being bitten by the bees were identified as Yasir and Surriya and they are being treated at Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad.

The police said that the incident took place on Monday, casting a pall of fear in the area. Distressed by the ongoing threat, the local residents of the area are asking the Department of Agriculture to start sprays in order to combat the menace of these poisonous bees.

In response to the urgent situation, the team from Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Khanpur, under the supervision of Chief Officer Yasir Khan, arrived at the scene. The authorities have taken immediate notice of the tragic incident, where two lives were lost, and another individual was injured in the ongoing bee attack in a Khanpur village.

Faisal Awan, a candidate for the Provincial Assembly from Jamaat-e-Islami, has raised poignant questions about the plight of the people in Upper Khanpur, questioning when they will emerge from the "Stone Age."
