Local residents believe that the shooting may be linked to extortion activities

KARACHI:

Two persons were injured during a gunfight triggered by an altercation near Naseerabad Bhaijaan Chowk in Federal B Area on Saturday. Police have made one arrest in connection with the clash, while a video clip of the entire episode has come to the light, clearly showing armed men openly using firearms.

As per details, the violent confrontation took place on the night between Friday and Saturday in Federal B Area, Block 7, falling under the jurisdiction of Joharabad police station. Two young men, identified as 18-year-old Usman, son of Rahmatullah, and 24-year-old Abdul Majeed, son of Sulaiman, were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital with gunshot wounds.

A police contingent, reinforced by a Rangers party, reached the site as soon as they received information about the armed clash. Police investigators collected crucial evidence from the site.

Local residents believe that the shooting may be linked to extortion activities. Some of the men allegedly involved in the gunfight have been identified as Ali, aka Don, Bantu, Sarmad, aka Pathan, and their associates.

Video footage of the entire incident reveals the perpetrators assaulting a man with a stick on the road, as they continued to create mayhem.

Police have taken into custody a man named Sarmad at the scene who is reported to be a government employee and was subjected to a beating by citizens. Police recovered the handgun used by Sarmad during the clash, as they intensified efforts to arrest Ali, who managed to escape while firing shots in the air. Police also found five shells of a 30 bore pistol at the scene.
