ISLAMABAD:

The administration of the Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad said that its disciplinary committee was reviewing the matter of the clash between student organisations that took place on Friday.

As per details, the students of the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) – the student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami, tried to organise an event despite instruction by the administration against it.

Former cricketer Saeed Anwar was invited as the guest

Those involved in campus security, while speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that the IJT was barred from holding the gathering as there were concerns over campus unrest.

During the programme, the IJT students said, members of an ‘ethnic student council’ attacked the gathering.

At least six students were injured, they said, while one of their colleagues was abducted.

They added that a case had been registered at the relevant police station.

The university said that its security team had sent a report to the disciplinary committee, which would take action against the students involved in the light of the report.
