CTD arrests 10 suspected terrorists

CTD conducted 117 intelligence-based operations in various districts of the province

The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested 10 suspected terrorists linked with banned outfits during operations in different areas of the province.

According to the spokesman, the CTD conducted 117 intelligence-based operations in various districts of the province to thwart any incident of terrorism, in which 117 suspects were interrogated and 10 alleged terrorists arrested with weapons, explosives and other prohibited material.

The arrested men are Syed Agha, Muhammad Nouman, Ataur Rehman, Muhammad Osama, Siddique, Shah Nawaz, Muhammad Sufyan Serwer, Muhammad Safdar, Qasim Khan and Abdul Haq, he said and added that they belonged to banned organisations.

The suspects were arrested from Lahore, Rahim Yar Khan, Sargodha and Bahawalpur.

The spokesman said two IEDs, a grenade, three detonators, safety fuse wire, four banned books, 95 pamphlets, 114 stickers, a receipt book and Rs26,225 had been seized from the suspects.

They had planned acts of sabotage across the province, including at important installations. The police registered eight cases against the suspects.
