KARACHI:

The Pakistan International Airlines on Friday paid the usual Rs100 million to the Pakistan State Oil for fuel supply.

Due to the limited payment for fuel procurement, there is fear of a repeat of the abnormal situation (mass cancellation of flights) during the holidays.

During 11 days, the number of cancelled domestic and international flights of PIA reached 537 due to shortage of fuel.

According to sources, air operations were restricted under Plan B under which domestic and international air operations were partially affected and the flights to Dammam were also cancelled.

In addition to the cancellation and delay of flights operating between other cities of the country, the flights to Jeddah, Dubai, Salalah, Dammam, Kuwait City, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain from other cities besides Karachi were also cancelled.
