Aditya Roy Kapur has 'no objections' being objectified, says it's part of show business

Actor does not feel exploited in the slightest

Bollywood heartthrob Aditya Roy Kapur is well-known for his striking looks and impressive acting prowess. In a recent interview with Film Companion, the Aashiqui 2 actor candidly addressed the topic of feeling "objectified" in the entertainment industry, shedding light on the pressures of maintaining his physique.

When asked about whether he felt objectified in the industry, Kapur responded with a sense of humour, saying, "No objection taken at all." He went on to explain that he views it as an integral part of his acting profession and doesn't let it affect him personally.

The actor's journey into showbiz began as a VJ with Channel V, where he was accustomed to being objectified. Kapur shared a memorable anecdote, saying, "My first promo introducing VJ Aditya was me taking my shirt off at Agonda Beach in Goa. So that has been happening since the start of my career." Kapur acknowledged that objectification is inherent in the visual medium of the entertainment industry. He mentioned that if it helps him fit into the character and click that specific box, he sees it as a positive aspect of his job.

On the subject of maintaining his body shape, Kapur admitted that he doesn't strictly adhere to a diet. He enjoys indulging in a variety of foods but emphasized that when preparing for a role, he focuses on achieving the necessary physique to portray the character authentically.

In a separate interview with The Indian Express, the actor reflected on the success of his recent project, the Disney Plus Hotstar series The Night Manager. He expressed satisfaction with the positive response from the audience and noted that the series had high expectations to meet. Looking ahead, Kapur is set to star alongside Sara Ali Khan in Metro In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu.
